Food Change

If you’re warm and outside, you may come inside sit down and grab a coke and some Fritos. Or maybe, if you’re a girl, you just need some chocolate so you grab a snicker. Maybe you’re hungry on Sunday and there’s some canned tuna in your pantry so you make a tuna sandwich. Well, I hope you enjoy all those things thoroughly now, because the amount of food that the companies are going to be putting in their products is going to be decreased.

Kellogg, the cereal company, is going to decrease roughly about 15%. Mars Company, the company behind the wonder bar that is the snicker, is going to be reducing the size by 11%. The Union Group, that makes Chicken of the Sea, is reducing that product by 17% and Pepsi-Co that makes Fritos is reducing those chips by 12.5-20%. The economy isn’t doing so hot, and we all know this very well.

But when it affects amounts of food that is put into a package, you have to step back and wonder about how bad it truly is. People have lost jobs, homes, and now amounts of food are going to be decreasing. Though amounts of food may seem small in the grand scheme of things, you have to wonder about what’s coming next. Gas prices on the rise, jobs scarce to be found, and families loosing homes, leaves us wondering when the president will pick us back up and get us moving.
