Worst March Madness Ever

The March Madness of 2011 was one of the most disappointing in the history of NCAA men’s basketball.

The season had so much build up, having fans believe that the competition, come tournament time, would be entertaining for fans, but it only led to disappointment. Throughout the season there were two teams that thrived and were anticipated to meet each other in the championship, and these teams were Kansas and Ohio State. Both teams went back and forth all season for the ranking of number one, and they both won their conference championships, Kansas the Big 12 and Ohio State the Big 10.
Instead of meeting each other in the finals, neither of them made it to the Final 4, falling short to teams that were far less superior to them. Ohio State lost to Kentucky in the Sweet 16, and Kansas lost to the no-name school, VCU, that barely made the tournament in the Elite 8.

The biggest disappointment about Kansas is that they had just started to be able to put teams away at the end of games and win the majority of their games by 15 or more. Then they come out and let a team that was a #11 seed be up by as much 18 and end up winning by 10. Their defending of the three was so horrendous, it was hard to even watch, allowing VCU to go 9 for 12 the first half.

I do have to say that they did come out strong the second half and made a good run. I thought they might even come back and win it, but that glimpse of hope soon faded when VCU went on 11-3 run about halfway through the second half. This game was by far the worst game of the season for Kansas at the worst possible time.
