March Madness

The NCAA Men’s basketball tournament is one of the most unpredictable playoffs in all of sports. So many teams are in the tournament which gives many different kinds of teams the chance to compete. There are always teams that are thought to win the championship but instead are taken out by smaller schools that cut their legs off from under them. Throughout the history of the NCAA tourney there have been many upsets that have shocked people throughout the nation.
Some of the best upsets in the history of March Madness are the 1986 LSU team that were the first 11 seed to make it to the final four, the 1985 Villinova team that won the national championship as an  8 seed, and the 2006 George Mason team that made it to the final four as an 11 seed. All these are good upsets, but one of the best upsets in all of men’s basketball history is when NC State beat Houston for the championship in 1983. The Houston team was one of the best in the nation and were a number one seed in the tournament, but were overcome by a NC State team that far less superior. It was a pretty close game, and with seconds left in the game a NC State player dunked to go up 54 to 52, and ended up winning the game.
So whenever thinking about making a bracket for March Madness, don’t always pick the better team to win. You should look for teams that aren’t the best, but look like they could make some noise in the tournament, because there are always upsets as seen throughout history. If your favorite team is one of the best in the country, then prepare to get your heart broken by an underdog.
