In this day and age, people can find much better things to do than pick up a book and read. Our society is so filled with technology that books really just don’t matter to us anymore.
Now there are still some that think a book is much better than a movie, but that is a small percentage. People would much rather watch a movie than read a book.
Books were thought to be entertainment for those who need something to do. But now we have cell phones, movies, and computers. We have even found a way to read without picking up an actual book. That’s just sad.
Our society has lost its sense of creativity since all we can do is think of technology. People don’t like to just read what’s in front of them. They like to read what interests them. Since we have been coming up with all these new phones and computers, people don’t really want to look down at a book when they could be looking at something that they find really interesting. The newspaper is still widely read but even that is being taken over by television and the internet.
Overall many people would rather focus on the T.V., then read a newspaper or watch a movie instead of reading a book. Though reading is not as popular, it will never leave our society completely.
