Why is trashy TV so appealing?
This is a question that has begun to be asked with recent hit shows like Jersey Shore and Gossip Girl. In today’s society many teenagers are attracted to shows of stupid people acting, well, stupid. Good TV is no longer attractive; no one wants to watch shows that make you think, or comedies that are well written. So why are students so attracted to these shows?
Well, some say that it makes them feel smarter, and gives them the opportunity to laugh. Another reason students give for watching these trashy shows is that it lets them escape their hectic everyday lives. But, why do students feel the need to watch trash?
As long as these shows keep making money teenagers will keep watching them. Trashy TV has no rhyme or reason to it, just a way for teens to escape their everyday life.
