Sleeping on the job

New air traffic control crackdown led by the FAA has been imposed. Concerns from sleeping air traffic controllers have come after a plane Michelle Obama boarded had to abort its landing. It has been recently discovered that people have been napping while working their jobs. One controller was quoted, “I’d close my eyes for 15, 20 minutes and go back to work and feel 1,000 times better.” He was also noted saying that when people were seen doing it, other workers wouldn’t ask about it. Such restrictions such as a three-strike policy while caught sleeping are reportedly being enacted by their supervisors. Some of the controllers shifts require that they be alert and ready to work at odd hours. Shifts like this are hard to get used to, especially for newly trained air traffic controllers. The FAA hopes to improve this issue making sure the supervisors are imposing new rules in their control towers and cracking down on sleeping employees.
