The Big House Finally Gets Lights

Recently, the University of Michigan played its first ever home night game.

Last year, the university made the decision to make the 1.8 million dollar addition of lights for the football field. They vowed that the lights would be finished and ready before Dec. 11, when they are scheduled to play hated enemy Michigan State. However, they finished the project three months earlier than expected and played their first night game at Michigan, also known as “The Big House,” on Sept. 10 against the fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Michigan fans were quite excited about the lights, as 114,000 people stormed the stands to make history. The game was no disappointment to those fans.  However, the lead traded between teams three times in the final 1:21 of the game. It ended with Michigan scoring the winning touchdown with 2 seconds on the clock.

Prized quarterback Denard Robinson was the superstar of week two in the NCAA. He finished the night with 338 passing yards, 108 rushing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown. Michigan fans were energized after the game and refused to leave the stadium.  Almost three hours after the game ended, there were an estimated 50,000 people still celebrating in the stands. Wolverine fans believe that this was a good omen and the first of many wins to come this season.
