World Vision: Giving Our World a Brighter Future

World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization, has been changing the world for the better since 1953.

What started as the sponsorship of one Chinese girl by World Vision’s founder, Dr. Bob Pierce, has blossomed into a program that improves the lives of nearly 100 million children and their communities in about 100 different countries.

The organization is perhaps best known for their sponsorship program, though they provide aid to the world in many other ways as well. In this, a donor sponsors one child in an impoverished country from the age of zero to fourteen years through a monthly gift of 35 dollars. This may seem like an incredibly small amount to live on, but, to these children, it means the world. Each sponsored child receives clean water, plenty of food, health care, education, spiritual nurturance, and more. In many cases, this can mean the difference between life and death.

Not only is a child’s life transformed through sponsorship, but many sponsors will attest that God changes their lives through the program as well. Sponsors have the ability to write letters and send small packages to their sponsored child, who then writes letters in response.

It is miraculous to see how God has worked through World Vision to change the lives of so many and make the future of our world a little bit brighter.
