A Tough Decision

When one is a child, one seldom, if ever, thinks of the many decisions they will have to make when they are still young, yet old enough to embark upon a life journey of their own. Some decisions seem a little easier than others, but nonetheless, they all generate a certain amount of anxiety.

High school for some is the end of the road for their educational career; still for others, it is another stepping stone on the way to further education.  The earlier one starts contemplating their college preference the better. Some think junior year is soon enough, yet for those with educational goals, middle school may not be too soon to begin considering what school will help them attain their goal.

Certainly by the end of the sophomore year, at the start of the junior year, one should have a serious list of schools to consider.  At first, there is a mountain of correspondence from colleges with tons of information attempting to persuade the student that their school is the only school that should be considered. The reality is that one can only visit just so many campuses. Therefore, the list has to be narrowed.

The process of eliminating schools can be difficult, but eventually it gets done. All along the way, there are a lot of mixed emotions. Yes, there is anxiety; still, there is a feeling of excitement about the future. When the decision is made it feels as if a ton of bricks is removed from one’s shoulders. The feeling is one of the greatest in the world. One can focus on the senior year of school without the plaguing thought of, "Where to go?" or "What will next year bring?"  Now the thought is, “I can’t wait!!”
