Hurricane Irene

This last Sunday was devastating for many on the New Jersey and New York coast.

Sunday was the day Hurricane Irene hit.  The hurricane hit the city of Little Egg Inlet, NJ, then continued its path of destruction up the coast of New Jersey and up to the coast of New York.

This category three hurricane destroyed over 600 homes over the span of six cities, damaged 150 major highways, and 22 state bridges have been closed.  The estimated damage for this will be close to $1 billion.

Upstate New York took a pretty huge hit and they will be needing financial aid to help them recover from this disaster.  New York’s governor Cuomo said, “We're not just going to rebuild.  We are going to build back better than ever before.”
