Flamingos

Flamingos are large pink birds that tend to live in lagoons and lakes with a lot of mud and water. These beautiful, flying wonders mostly feed on diatoms, seeds, blue-green algae, crustaceans, and mollusks. They live in large groups of up to 10,000 birds which are called colonies. They have large beaks that filter out small articles of food from the water.

Flamingos can reproduce by the time they are six and they breed in pairs. They do not nest every year, but when they do, they normally lay about one large egg. Baby chicks leave their nest in about 4-7 days after hatching.
