Exhaust Laws

Illinois has recently adopted some new exhaust laws. These laws are very troubling for car enthusiasts.

As of now, all vehicles are required to have an “adequate muffler," or exhaust system, that is in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise. On top of that, vehicles also may not have any cutout or bypass valves. Also, any aftermarket cannot make the car louder than it was out of the factory.

This completely defeats the purpose of putting an exhaust on your car. The only reason they have this is because of noise complaints. This is a really pointless law and they really have no reason for it.

I have a few friends that have been pulled over for “noise pollution” and received a ticket. The only purpose of this law seems to be to pull in extra dollars for the police, which is completely wrong. This needs to go away.
