College Football Week One

The 2011 college football season is underway and off to a great start.

There were many good games and upsets this weekend, but the best games were most likely Baylor against 14th-ranked TCU and 5th-ranked Boise State against 19th-ranked Georgia.

Baylor came into the game with many people expecting them to lose.  It sure looked that way after the first quarter when TCU was up 16 to 14.  Baylor then proceeded to start destroying TCU, outscoring them 33 to 7 in the second and third quarters, with their quarterback Robert Griffin completing 21 0ut of 27 passes for 359 yards.  TCU didn’t go down without a fight, though; they scored 25 points in the final quarter, but despite this effort Baylor came out on top winning 50 to 48.

Boise State, even though they are ranked higher than Georgia, was on the road and expected to lose.  The game was off to a rough start when Georgia went up 7 to 0.  Boise State then came right back and got a touchdown to tie the game.  Boise State's solid defense and great passing game led them to a 35 to 21 victory.  Kellen Moore, the quarterback for BSU, helped his team out by  throwing for 261 yards and 3 touchdowns with only 1 interception.
