The top five players of MLB

Baseball is a very exciting sport that makes memories that some may never forget. Also, there are players that change the game forever. People such as Joe DiMaggio, Mickie Mantle, Roger Clemens, Reggie Jackson, and Greg Maddux are examples of retired legends, but in this article I will list the top five current players who fall among those standards.

Number one is Roy Halladay, who has transformed the way people look at a good cutting fast ball. Halladay has thrown no hitters and perfect games multiple times. This year, Halladay was one of four all star pitchers for the Phillies, making the Philadelphia pitching rotation one of the best of all time, consisting of Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels, and Roy Oswalt. The Phillies are in first place by 9.5 games over the Atlanta Braves.

Second is the Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamiltion, who has a wonderful story about his life as a ballplayer going down due to a severe drug addiction, and then down the road he found Jesus Christ. This season, Hamilton has hit 19 homers and has a .299 batting average. When he steps up to plate he has a huge chance of hitting a homerun. Hamilton is also a great outfielder, making unbelievable diving catches and throwing people out at homeplate.
Third is the powerhouse Red Sox first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez, who goes by the nick name of "Gonzo." Gonzo has sent 23 over the outfield wall and has drove in 105 runs. Not only can Gonzalez hit towering homers but he can make amazing scoops at first base. Boston signed the powerhouse last off-season from the San Diego Padres.

Another dominant player is "The Freak" Tim Lincecum, the tall, shaggy haired, and unorthodox right hander from the San Fransisco Giants. Lincecum has 12 -12 record this year with a 2.75 ERA and fanning 200 batters so far this year. The defending World Series champions Giants have key players that help make Tim as good as he is. Players like Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval, Cody Ross, and Brian Wilson.
Finally, Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers is just unbeatable.  Whenever he gets a pitch he can swing at he can easily send it out of the park. The Brewers are in first place in the NL Central by 9.5 games and he is a big contributer for their success. Sharing a clean-up spot with Ryan Braun, Fielder has hit 31 homers and driven in 108 RBI's. Prince Fielder is another all-around player; he can hit balls 400 feet but he can really make amazing plays on defense as well.
